For our closing gala concert, we present several major musical events! Come hear Brett Dean’s innovative Pastoral Symphony, a work that combines recorded sounds of birds with live orchestra. Then take a journey into the “unstructured sources of our beings” in Steven Stucky’s Radical Light. Tim Brady pushes the boundaries of classical concert music as he brings together four solo electric guitarists and an ensemble of over 20 guitarists on stage with the WSO to perform his Amplify, Multiply, Remix, and Redefine; a piece written in homage to Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar. Closing off this year’s Festival is John Psathas’ show-stopping, adrenaline-filled piano & percussion concerto, View From Olympus, featuring critically acclaimed soloists Jenny Lin (piano) and Aiyun Huang (percussion).
