To celebrate the 2010 International Polar Year, we present you a concert featuring new works by WSO’s Composer-In-Residence Vincent Ho and this year’s Canadian distinguished guest composer Derek Charke inspired by their Arctic journeys. This evening brings together many of the top climate change scientists from all over the world and will include a special presentation by Dr. David Barber, lead scientist of the Circumpolar Flaw Lead (CFL) System Study. Also featured tonight is the Pulitzer Prize-winning work (2002) Second Concerto for Orchestra by our guest composer Steven Stucky, and the world premiere performance of John Tavener’s cello concerto, Pupule Meus, featuring WSO’s principal cellist Yuri Hooker.
